Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts is proud to present the regional premiere of the epic musical The Prince of Egypt, part of our 2025–2026 Mainstage Season. This powerful production runs January 16 through February 1, 2026, at the Fullwood Auditorium in Matthews.
Based on the beloved animated film, The Prince of Egypt tells the sweeping story of two brothers raised as princes in ancient Egypt. When the truth of Moses’ past is revealed, their bond is tested, destinies collide, and one man rises to lead his people toward freedom. It’s a story of identity, courage, faith, and hope — brought to life with breathtaking music and unforgettable moments. Directed & Choreographed by Tod A. Kubo. Music Direction by John Nipe.
Featuring a soaring score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell) and a book by Philip LaZebnik, this musical is an emotional and theatrical experience audiences won’t soon forget.
